In our culture today, the amount of available information to the general public is astounding. Patients can now find material on cosmetic procedures, doctors, and other patient experiences. One of the effects of this information age in the plastic surgery world is that patients are traveling more and more often to get their procedure done by a specific surgeon. As an expert in Asian rhinoplasty, Dr. Nassif sees patients from all over the world. Our office staff in Beverly Hills is well-versed inmaking sure out-of-town patients have a comfortable and rewarding experience. Here is some general information for our non-local patients on our consultation process and some guidelines for making travel arrangements.
The first step begins by contacting our office. Our patient care consultant can provide you with all kinds of information about our facility, the surgical and recovery process, and setting up a consultation with Dr. Nassif. You can reach us by phone or email, and we’ll send you a New Patient Application.
Show and Tell
Your application is your opportunity to tell us more about who you are and what you’re looking to get out of an Asian rhinoplasty. Your background, medical history, and any other pertinent information will be helpful to Dr. Nassif in determining how best to care for you before, during, and after surgery. You should also send us pictures of your face and nose from the front and both sides. The pictures shouldn’t come from your cell phone; they need to be in high resolution and in a large size so Dr. Nassif can clearly see how your nose and face are structured.
Seeing the Doctor
It won’t be necessary to conduct your consultation in person, though Dr. Nassif will want to meet with you before the actual surgery. Your consultation can be conducted over the phone or using video chat services like Skype and Virtual Consultation. The idea is for Dr. Nassif to be able to talk to you and get to know you as a patient. He’ll go into further detail with you about your goals for surgery, as well as your personal and medical history.
Traveling for Surgery
We require patients to be in the Beverly Hills area at least one to two days prior to surgery. This gives Dr. Nassif an opportunity to meet with you in person before the procedure, plus you have some extra time to rest up and get over jet lag.
After surgery, you should plan to remain in the area for one to two weeks. You won’t be in any shape to travel for the first several days, especially if you’re flying. It’s important to remember that every patient reacts differently to Asian rhinoplasty. Just because one patient only needed five days to recover enough to go home, doesn’t mean it will be the same for you. You need to give yourself plenty of time to rest and recover with the added strain of traveling.
Bring Your Own Support System
It’s a good idea to bring someone along with you for the surgery, such as a friend or family member. They can act as your primary source of support during the initial recovery, including driving you to and from surgery and helping you move around. They also provide familiarity in an unfamiliar place. When you’re scared or in pain, or just lonely, having someone around to take care of you goes a long way.
If you are unable to bring someone with you, we can recommend services to provide you with the same type of support while you recover. Car services and overnight nursing services will enable you to focus solely on your well-being without worrying about how you will take care of yourself.
