I’m a 24-year-old Asian female who had rhinoplasty two years ago. I’d like to relate my experience so others can understand what the procedure is like. I had both rhinoplasty and septoplasty done to narrow my nose and to also correct my deviated septum.
About a week after surgery the cast was removed and I was shocked to see so much swelling. My nose looked worse than it did before surgery and I immediately regretted my decision. However, after doing my research on healing post rhinoplasty I decided to just be patient and wait it out. I actually would not look at my nose carefully for a week at a time so I could see subtle differences clearer. This worked! It was hard to not look at every detail at first but after a couple of weeks I just avoided the mirror.
After about the third month I finally noticed definition and shape! I was so excited! Yes, my nose was still swollen but I could finally see a tangible difference and was really happy. From that point on the healing process was easier and the more patient I was the happier I became.
My advice to anyone undergoing rhinoplasty is to stay patient and positive. No use pouring all that negative energy into healing, it will only make you feel worse. Stay calm and confident and the results will come!
